The Subaru Impreza STi 22B is one of the most special cars in its class but by capping production at 424 units, Subaru ensured that they’d always be rare. Today, they change hands for more than $200,000. Now, a small company in Chesterfield, UK will build you as faithful of a recreation as you could want for about half of that.

The real 22B is special for a number of reasons beyond its rarity. Built to celebrate Subaru’s 40th anniversary and its third straight World Rally Championship, it showcased everything that in-house tuning arm STi was capable of. Under the hood was a 2.2-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 280 hp (at least that’s what Subaru claimed – many believe that it’s higher than that), and the car also featured special Bilstein shocks among other enhancements.

Picking a real 22B up on the used-car market is anything but easy though. One pristine example sold in 2021 for $317,555. To the rescue are the folks over at ScoobyClinic in the UK. The team there does everything for Subarus including tuning, engine building, bodywork, and more. In fact, that’s how they can produce 22B recreations so skillfully.

As the folks from the Late Brake Show on YouTube found out, the team there does everything in-house. They’ll recreate the 22B down to the $1,487 fender badges if a customer asks them to. With everything from an original EJ22 engine, suspension, and transmission to the proper interior, a car as close to the 22B as possible will run someone around $123,000.

Of course, customers can get as much or as little 22B spirit in their personal build as they might like. Simply want to add the same kind of drivetrain from a 22B to an existing Impreza? No problem. Want to get those wide boxy 22B fender flares on an Impreza wagon? ScoobyClinic can make it happen.

They even show off one stalled project that combines a Impreza wagon with a 22B by deleting the rear doors entirely. Yes, a two-door 22B wagon is sitting in the garage there at ScoobyClinic just waiting on someone with the cash to finish it. It’s great to see a company making such a legend far more accessible to the rest of the public.
