Say hello to what is one of the world’s quickest and most powerful Nissan GT-R drag racers.

This particular GT-R has been dubbed ‘Night Terror’ by its owner and shares very little in common with its former self. Indeed, it has been so comprehensively modified that many people on social media state it shouldn’t even be considered a GT-R anymore.

Indeed, the entire platform of the GT-R has been replaced with a custom tube chassis and we suspect that not a single suspension or brake component is an off-the-shelf OEM part available for the Nissan. Images shared of the car online also show that it rocks a completely bespoke rear end.

The only giveaway of the car’s original identity is the bodywork. We can see the familiar GT-R doors, front fascia, roofline, and angular side windows. And what about the engine? Much to our surprise, it appears as though the car retains its original VR38DETT but it’s obviously been comprehensively modified.

Nissan developed the VR38DETT to exclusively use in the GT-R and the 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V6 has proven extremely popular to tune and modify. It delivers a maximum of 710 hp in a road-going GT-R (the GT-R50), but this one has much, much more. Indeed, it is pumping out a remarkable 3,400 hp achieved through comprehensive upgrades.

Can this racer be considered a real Nissan GT-R? We’ll let you be the judge of that.
