The Nissan Z went into production in 2021, so it is quite young compared to the GT-R which has been around since 2007 despite the numerous updates. However, this didn’t stop independent digital artist Ted Li from proposing a facelift for the Z, inspired by the recently revealed 2024 Nissan GT-R.

Li published the renderings on Instagram through his firm Flat Hat 3D and the result is impressive to say the least. At the front, the Fairlady Z got a split grille design, a more pronounced splitter, and a sculpted bumper with a slim LED bar on each side. The digital artist didn’t stop there, adding redesigned front fenders mirroring those of the GT-R and making the profile of the Z look even sportier.

The sportscar is painted in the Millennium Jade heritage color that is only available in the GT-R, tastefully combined with black-finished alloy wheels. As a final touch, the tail benefits from a new rear wing and quad exhaust pipes with a burnished look.

The virtually tuned sportscar might only exist in the digital world for now but in our eyes, the GT-R inspired bodykit makes total sense for a Nismo-badged performance-focused version, or even a mid-lifecycle update. Flat Hat 3D is currently working on a Nismo variant of the Z based on recent spy shots, featuring redesigned bumpers and a more prominent ducktail rear spoiler.

Mind you, Nissan is already offering a split-grille design option for the Fairlady Z in Japan. The reason for that is the enthusiastic response to the 2022 Nissan Fairlady Z Proto Customized concept, leading to a production version with slightly toned-down characteristics (it is missing the fender add-ons). The factory option looks more similar to Flat Had 3D’s bodykit than the stock Fairlady Z that sports a big-mouth look.
