Existing owners of the McLaren 720S GT3 can also benefit from the upgrades of the EVO package

McLaren is about to reveal the successor of the 720S supercar sometime in the coming months, but that doesn’t mean that the racing version isn’t getting any love until then; the 720S GT3 EVO was just announced, introducing many upgrades to its insane aerodynamics and suspension bits.
Starting with the looks, the McLaren 720S GT3 EVO gets a redesigned bumper with a new splitter and a quick-release mechanism allowing for easier removal and replacement in the pits. There is also a new bonnet gurney for improved cooling, while the auxiliary lamps have been repositioned for better visibility during night-time endurance racing. At the back, the rear wing gurney is taller and there is a more easily adjustable wing pylon mechanism. According to McLaren, the revised aero resulted in “more overall downforce, balance shifted forwards, and greater consistency in traffic”.
There are also changes under the skin with a new suspension setup. The highlight is the TTX40 Ohlins 4-way adjustable dampers with high-frequency pistons and adjustable lengths. The new upper wishbones are adjustable at the front, combined with improved rear geometry, and new uprights for extra robustness in wheel-to-wheel contact. Finally, the brakes have close-face bells making them more durable. The company doesn’t mention any changes in the mid-mounted powertrain, which is a race-tuned version of the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8.
The McLaren 720S GT3 EVO is already available to order, and will be homologated for the 2023 season. Existing 720S GT3 owners can upgrade their racecars with the EVO package, ensuring they stay up to date with the latest advancements. Mind you, the original McLaren 720S GT3 debuted in 2018, and has recorded many race and championship wins in the GT3 class since its racing debut in the 2019 season.
