A former employee of the Williams Brothers Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep-Ram dealership in Dundee, Michigan has been arrested after allegedly embezzling more than $200,000 from the dealer.

The Dundee Police Department alleges that 43-year-old Allison Stewart from Manchester, Michigan stole the money from the dealer while she was an employee there in 2019. Police did not specify how Stewart stole the money nor did they reveal what position she held at the dealership.

Monroe County Chief Prosecutor Michael Roehrig revealed she was arrested last Friday on one charge of embezzlement over $100,000 and faces various fines and up to 20 years in prison.

A Facebook post from the Dundee Police Department reveals that it obtained a warrant for Stewart’s arrest in 2022 following fraud investigations carried out with the National Insurance Crime Bureau. However, the 43-year-old disappeared after the warrant was issued and her exact location wasn’t known. It wasn’t until police received a tip on March 1 about the woman’s location in Adrian that they were able to swoop in and arrest her at a residence.

Shockingly, cases of dealership employees stealing money aren’t all that uncommon. In November last year, a woman from Clarksville, New Hampshire was indicted on allegations that she made off with more than $350,000 from a Chevrolet dealership. She allegedly did this by withdrawing large sums from the Brooks Chevrolet checking account and also used credit cards associated with the dealership to make purchases.
