The Chevrolet Corvette is embracing an electrified, all-wheel drive future and you can grab the first E-Ray next month.

Set to go under the hammer at Barrett-Jackson’s Palm Beach Auction, the first retail production 2024 Corvette E-Ray will come in range-topping 3LZ trim and sport VIN 001. Furthermore, 100% of the hammer price will benefit DonorsChoose, which helps fund classroom projects to give students a better education.

The car will be auctioned off on April 15th and feature a 6.2-liter V8 engine that sends 495 hp (369 kW / 502 PS) and 470 lb-ft (637 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels. That’s the same setup you’ll find in the Corvette Stingray, but the E-Ray throws a 1.9 kWh battery pack and a 160 hp (119 kW / 162 PS) electric motor into the mix. It powers the front wheels and gives the car all-wheel drive as well as a combined output of 655 hp (488 kW / 664 PS).

This enables the model to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 2.5 seconds and run the quarter mile in 10.5 seconds. Those numbers are more than respectable, but the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 has warped our perspective.

That being said, the E-Ray can be driven on electricity alone at speeds up to 45 mph (72 km/h).  The model also comes nicely equipped with standard magnetic ride control and Brembo carbon ceramic brakes.

There’s no auction estimate, but the Corvette E-Ray starts at $102,900 before destination.  That makes it slightly less expensive than the Z06, which begins at $105,300.
