Porsche has confirmed that the fourth-generation Cayenne will be manufactured in Bratislava, Slovakia, despite the veil yet to be lifted on the facelifted third-generation Cayenne.

The fourth-generation Cayenne will be a particularly important vehicle for the brand as it will be produced with an all-electric powertrain. While it’s not yet known if Porsche will also sell it alongside a combustion-powered variant, as it plans to do with the Macan ICE and Macan EV, we do know that it will launch after the electric 718 model range that’s set to debut in 2025.

The Porsche Cayenne has long been associated with Bratislava. When production of the SUV first started in 2002, painted bodies were assembled in Bratislava and then sent to Leipzig, Germany to be finished. Production of the Cayenne moved to Bratislava with the launch of the third-generation model in 2017 and since then, the site has been responsible for building both combustion-powered and plug-in hybrid variants.

Porsche Will Build The Fourth-Generation Cayenne In Slovakia

“The plant in Bratislava has done outstanding work in recent years and has received several awards,” board member for Production and Logistics at Porsche, Albrecht Reimold said. “The future Cayenne will be the first all-electric SUV to be manufactured there. I’m sure that the team there will be meticulously prepared and will get the new generation to the starting line – when the time comes – in characteristic Porsche quality.”

Before Porsche can commence production of the fourth-generation Cayenne, it first needs to launch the facelifted third-generation model, revamped for the 2024 model year. Porsche says the SUV benefits from a significantly revised chassis designed to improve both its on-road and off-road credentials. Helping to achieve this will be a complex dual-chamber air-spring suspension system.

Elsewhere, we know that Porsche has updated the front and rear fascias of the new Cayenne with the fitment of new HD-Matrix LED headlights and fancy LED taillight graphics. The German car manufacturer also says it has thoroughly updated the interior.
