There has long been a thriving aftermarket for the VW Golf GTI and since the launch of the 8th generation model, more and more tuners have started to release upgrades for the popular hot hatch. This particular example, overhauled by JMS Fahreugteile, is not for the faint-hearted.

The first thing that stands out about this Golf GTI Clubsport is the green wrap. While a shade of green like this is better suited to a Lamborghini than a VW, it definitely adds a unique element to the car and makes it stand out from the thousands of other modified GTIs on the roads.

Complementing the green wrap are a new set of rims from Barracuda Racing Wheels. These wheels are from the company’s Dragon Ultralight Series and measure 20-inches at all four corners. While the ride of the hatch has probably been compromised by these new wheels, they do look the part, just like the wrap.

JMS has also fitted a handful of new parts to the car’s exterior. These include a striking front splitter, a rear diffuser, and a pair of extended side skirts. The rear of the modified Golf GTI Clubsport is dominated by a towering wing.

Further adding to the striking looks of the car, while also aiding in its performance, is a set of KW Variant 3 coilovers, considered by many to be the benchmark of aftermarket coilover systems. The new suspension also lowers the ride height by 45 mm (1.77 inches) at the front and 40 mm (1.57 inches) at the rear.

Interestingly, JMS decided against messing with the VW’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and has only fitted a new exhaust system. As standard, the Golf GTI Clubsport’s engine is good for 296 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque but the new exhaust likely results in small horsepower and torque gains.
