The long-awaited 2024 Cupra Tavascan has been uncovered in production guise thanks to a video put together by the brand and Spanish singer and songwriter Rosalía.

The video itself is quite odd as far as car commercials go and is filled with various cartoon characters, flashing lights, heavy editing, and at one stage, an animation of a robotic dog. There’s even a female motorcyclist sitting on a Ducati while breastfeeding. A number of Cupra models are showcased in the video as well, including the Tavascan.

We can see the forthcoming SUV from both the side and the rear. While the automaker has managed to keep the overall shape of the concept, it has made a number of quite significant changes. These are particularly apparent where the LED taillights of the concept have been replaced with slightly larger and bulkier units. The decklid of the production model is also slightly more pronounced, thanks in part to the fitment of a subtle lip spoiler.

The lower portion of the rear fascia seems to share very little in common with the concept but that’s not a bad thing. Whereas the concept had a rear bumper with elements that flowed into a central section, the bumper of the production SUV is more traditional but still appears to sport an aggressive diffuser.

While the video doesn’t showcase the Tavascan from the front, we suspect that it too will be reshaped for production and will almost certainly have slightly larger LED headlights and a less over-the-top bumper.

Beyond its looks, we know that the Tavascan is based on the VW Group’s MEB platform and may share its powertrain with the ID.5 GTX. That would mean a 77 kWh battery pack driving a pair of electric motors to deliver 295 hp. It should be able to hit 62 mph (100 km/h) in the 6-second range while traveling up to 304 miles (490 km) on a single charge.
