ExoMod Concepts is nearing the completion of a reskinned Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat designed to look like a 1968 Dodge Charger and outfitted with an engine modified by the experts at Hennessey Performance.

The custom shop, based out of Greenville, Pennsylvania, has been building its reskinned Dodge Challengers for quite some time and this latest example is finished in a simple shade of white with black stripes running across the rear quarter panels and decklid. As with eXoMod’s other projects, all of the Challenger’s original body panels have been replaced with lightweight carbon fiber parts.

The overall shape of the current Challenger lends itself quite well to a classic Charger-inspired design. The front end incorporates a blacked-out grille just like an original Charger while there is also a pronounced black spoiler and a new hood with pronounced air intakes. Significant alterations have also been made to the rear of the Dodge and include four circular lights and new tailpipes. The extensive use of carbon fiber contributes to a claimed 400 lb (181 kg) weight reduction.

Then we get to the engine. Found beneath the hood is a new 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat V8 engine that has been tuned by Hennessey Performance and is good for 1,000 hp at 6,500 rpm and 948 lb-ft (1,285 Nm) of torque at 4,200 rpm. Among the modifications made include the fitment of a lower pulley upgrade, upper pulley upgrade, ported supercharger snout, stainless steel long-tube headers, a high-flow air induction system, high-flow fuel injectors, and a bespoke exhaust. Mated to the boosted engine is an 8-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.

“Our distinctive ‘widebody 1968 Charger’ is a modern supercar powered by a 1,000 horsepower V8 tuned by Hennessey Performance,” eXoMod Concepts chief executive Rick Katzeff said. “The awe-inspiring powertrain, from a company that has been making ‘fast cars faster’ for more than 30 years, perfectly complements our custom carbon fiber bespoke building process.”
