The Volvo XC30 might have shown it all in recent patent drawings and leaked photos, but the Swedish brand continues to maintain its momentum with a lengthy teaser campaign, gradually unveiling more details of its fully electric small SUV.

We were already acquainted with the exterior design, which features notable elements such as the robust front fenders, sleek flush door handles, distinctive pixel-style headlights, and the eye-catching split LED taillights. However, the most recent teaser provides a more detailed look at the dashboard and infotainment system, as well as highlighting the diverse storage solutions available throughout the cabin.

The centerpiece of the dashboard is the portrait-orientated 12.3-inch touchscreen which shows crucial bits of information such as speed and battery charge level at the top. The display also features a “contextual bar” that houses the most relevant functions for easy access. Notably, there is a “calm” view mode available, designed to help relax the driver’s eyes, particularly during long nighttime trips. It is interesting to note that there doesn’t appear to be an instrument cluster behind the steering wheel, suggesting that the driver may rely on the tablet-style center screen or potentially a head-up display for relevant driving information.

The infotainment system, developed in collaboration with ECARX’s HaleyTek, is 5G-ready and utilizes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon hardware. It offers support for Google Assistant, Google Maps navigation, and a range of apps available on the Google Play store. It is also compatible with wireless Apple CarPlay functionality, marking a first for Volvo. In terms of audio, there is a soundbar positioned under the windshield, spanning the entire width of the dashboard. This soundbar can be paired with the optional Harman Kardon sound system for an enhanced audio experience.

In terms of practicality, Volvo designers created a versatile center console with sliding and modular storage compartments as highlighted in the official sketches. The larger door cards are a result of relocating the window switches to the center console and eliminating speakers. Additionally, smartphone pockets on the seatbacks provide convenient storage for mobile devices. Other features include the integrated size guide on the tailgate so you can make sure your IKEA furniture fits inside your Volvo before carrying it to the parking lot.

It is created using recycled PET bottles and bio-attributed material sourced from forests in Sweden and Finland.
