There’s been a glaring hole in the Acura lineup for years, but the company is finally preparing to fill it with a new entry-level crossover. Known as the ADX, the model arrives this spring and starts at $35,000.
Costing thousands less than the Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Lexus UX, the ADX aims to attract a new generation of buyers, namely Millennials and Gen Zers. Acura is hoping to accomplish this with “youthful styling, premium features, and a fun, engaging driving experience at an affordable price point.”

While the verdict’s still out, the ADX has an edgy design with a prominent Diamond Pentagon grille flanked by slender headlights. Buyers will also find a moonroof, a power liftgate, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
The interior does its Civic duty by voting in a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9-inch infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. While the cabin screams Honda more than Acura, it comes well-equipped with heated front seats, a dual-zone climate control system, a wireless smartphone charger, and an eight-speaker audio system.
The mid-level ADX A-Spec begins at $38,000 and features gloss black accents as well as Gun Metallic flourishes. They’re joined by LED fog lights and a set of larger 19-inch wheels.
Upgrades continue inside with heated and ventilated front seats wrapped in Ultrasuede upholstery. Drivers will also find a flat-bottom steering wheel, a panoramic moonroof, LED ambient lighting, and red contrast stitching. Other highlights include a four-way power front passenger seat, stainless steel pedals, a chrome shift knob, and a cargo cover.
The range-topping ADX A-Spec with Advance Package starts at $42,000 and features a lightly revised exterior with gloss black mirrors, black 19-inch wheels, and rain-sensing wipers. These are accompanied by interior features such as a heated steering wheel, a 15-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system, and Google built-in with a complimentary three-year unlimited data plan. Other niceties include front/rear parking sensors, remote engine start, and a drive mode selector with a customizable individual setting.
Acura is still keeping performance specifications under wraps, but they reiterated the compact crossover will have a “turbocharged 1.5-liter VTEC engine similar to the DOHC 1.5T used in Integra.” In the liftback, it produces 200 hp (149 kW / 203 PS) and 192 lb-ft (260 Nm) of torque.
Regardless of the output, the engine is connected to a sport-tuned continuously variable transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, although all-wheel drive is available for an extra $2,000.
