Considered unsuccessful at the box office at the tail end of 2024, Kraven the Hunter gets a second chance at winning over comic book film fans with its release on streaming service Netflix.
Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as the titular antihero, Kraven was the Sony Spider-Man Universe’s first R-rated movie. That extra edginess didn’t translate into cinema sales, however, with the film clawing back just $62 million of its reported $110 million production costs during its theatrical release.
Directed by A Most Violent Year’s J.C. Chandor, the movie delves into the origin story of Sergei Kravinoff and his transformation from a Russian big game hunter into Spider-Man’s supervillain foe, Kraven.
