In the world of high-end cars, exclusivity is no longer just about owning something fast and expensive, it’s about having something no one else has. That’s why luxury automakers are putting more energy into customization than ever before. This isn’t just about giving buyers the chance to build a dream car from scratch, it’s also a seriously profitable strategy for the brands.

Maserati, for all its well-documented problems—like, say, actually selling cars—is fully leaning into this strategy. The brand now offers more personalization options than ever, as demonstrated by its latest showcase piece, the MC20 Cielo.

Maserati customers wanting something unique can get a tailor-made experience through the new Officine Fuoriserie Maserati department. Shoppers can either choose options from an expansive catalog or request custom and one-of-a-kind creations. The scope of the personalization options is highlighted with the new MC20 Cielo ‘Less is More…?’ unveiled at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters tennis tournament.

While the bespoke MC20 Cielo’s name leaves a little to be desired, there’s no denying that the owner and Maserati’s design department have come up with something rather special. According to the company, influence was taken from the Bauhaus art movement, with geometric shapes adorning the supercar’s hood and rear decklid.

Most of the body is finished in Blu Corse Matte, with accents in yellow, white, red, and light blue. It also has a small area of orange, created to pay homage to Maria Teresa De Filippis, the first woman to qualify for a Formula 1 Grand Prix. Maserati has also fitted 20-inch wheels with yellow, blue, red, and white center caps, and sitting over blue brake calipers.

Not everyone will like the custom touches made to this MC20. However, the owner clearly wanted something different, and that’s what they’ve got. Thanks to the artistic paint finish, this MC20 Cielo will look just as good sitting in a static art gallery as it would cruising around the Italian Riviera.
