Hennessey claims it has built the most powerful fully internal combustion hypercar the world has ever seen. The new Venom F5 Evolution adds bigger turbos, extensive aerodynamic upgrades, and, quite literally, more fuel to the fire. The result is a massive 2,031 horsepower (1,514 kW) and a staggering 0 to 200 mph (321 km/h) time of just 10.3 seconds. It can hit that speed faster than most people can read this paragraph.
Beneath the rear decklid sits an updated version of Hennessey’s 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8. Developed in collaboration with Ilmor Engineering, the revised engine delivers improvements in power, durability, and drivability without changing its displacement.
Engine Upgrades Without the Gimmicks
They started with new Precision 7680 turbochargers, Ilmor-designed oval-shaped billet aluminum pistons, billet aluminum connecting rods, titanium exhaust valves, and larger high-flow fuel injectors. Interestingly, displacement is unchanged. Of course, Hennessey didn’t just stop at boosting power and speed.
Externally, the Venom F5 Evolution is easily spotted next to its older siblings. The team dove deeper into aerodynamics and found new ways to improve the car, including a completely redesigned front splitter with the help of Dr. Mark Handford of F1 and IndyCar fame.
From there, they added dive planes and louvers ahead of the front wheels, new underbody paneling to smooth the airflow, and at the back, a new Gurney flap to stabilize the Venom F5 Evolution at high speeds. Hennessey even added dynamic suspension settings that change depending on the power mode selected.
Interior Tweaks and a Pricey Upgrade Path
Inside, the cabin includes new seating options for those who prefer a less extreme cockpit. The new seats get a special “Blast Off” design to highlight the aerospace-inspired cabin.
Overall, the Venom F5 Evolution is a serious piece of engineering. And for existing F5 owners, there’s good news. All the Evolution upgrades can be retrofitted to cars that have already been delivered. The full package will set you back $285,000. Just don’t expect the seats to be included in that price.
