The new Cayenne Turbo GT stands as one of the most formidable performance SUVs out there, earning the prestigious GT badge, a symbol of Porsche’s highest standards. Yet, despite its impressive capabilities, it hasn’t been immune to the harsh realities of depreciation.

Earlier this week, a Cayenne Turbo GT changed hands online for $174,000. Yes, that’s still a hefty sum, but this beast originally carried a price tag of $237,290, with several upgrades over the standard Turbo GT. After just 8,000 miles (or less than 13,000 km), it has lost a staggering $63,290 in value. And get this; it was only purchased a year ago, on April 15, 2024, and it’s still under full factory warranty.

A peek at the window sticker reveals that the original owner was keen to load up on options, dropping over $38,000 on upgrades alone. The most extravagant choice was a $5,810 Burmester 3D surround sound system. Other notable additions include a $3,770 deviated stitching interior package, $2,310 for Night Vision Assist, and $1,140 for Exclusive Design taillights.

For those who love entertainment on the go, there’s also a $1,610 rear-seat entertainment system, and $1,620 for the surround view with active parking support. Even ventilated front seats weren’t included in the base price of the top Cayenne – those cost an additional $850, because, well, Porsche.

The exterior of the Porsche is finished in Vesuvius Grey, which is really more a shade of dark blue than it is grey. The SUV also sits on 22-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires that measure 285/40 at the front and 315/35 at the rear.

We have to applaud the original owner for the interior, too. It’s trimmed in a combination of Bordeaux Red and black leather upholstery and looks great.

Powering the Cayenne Turbo GT is a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 with 650 hp and 626 lb-ft of torque. This engine is coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission driving all four wheels. Compared to a new Lamborghini Urus, which starts at over $240,000 in the United States, a Cayenne Turbo GT seems like a bit of a bargain.

At the end of the day, while the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT is a remarkable performance SUV, its depreciation is a harsh reality. It’s a stunning family vehicle, no doubt, but if you’re looking for long-term value retention, maybe skip the high-performance SUV and go for something that just might appreciate – like, say, a 911.
