Recalls can range from seemingly minor things like missing decals to obviously serious ones where major parts might fail or fall off. In this case, Hyundai caught a potential fire issue before it sparked off a larger safety concern.

About 620 units of the 2025MY Palisade SUV are affected, with poorly sealed electrical components posing a fire risk. Until the issue is fixed, Hyundai is advising owners to park their vehicles outside to minimize the chance of damage from a potential fire.

Specifically, the issue lies in the electric oil pump. Hyundai says that on March 21 of this year, it heard of the problem from one of its suppliers. Just four days later, it had identified a range of suspect parts. Evidently, damaged tooling, specifically a spring on the production line, may have adversely affected the seal that protects the PCB on the electric oil pump.

If water makes its way into that area due to the damaged seal, it could short the board and even cause a fire. Hyundai says owners might experience a burning or melting scent, and possibly a malfunction indication on the dashboard too. For now, though, it seems like it hasn’t had any reports of this actually happening in the field or at dealers.

The automaker tells customers in its filing with the NHTSA, “Owners can continue driving these vehicles; however, Hyundai recommends parking their vehicles outside and away from structures until the recall remedy is completed.” That remedy is for dealers to replace the electric oil pump controller unit with a new one that is properly sealed.

Interestingly, you’re hearing about this recall more than a month before some owners and dealers might. Hyundai plans to notify customers by mail and dealers by email no later than July 4, 2025.
