  • This special G-Class sits on 24-inch wheels and has a red fabric soft top.
  • A pair of new turbochargers and downpipes help lift power to 809 hp.
  • The G-Wagen’s interior is also trimmed in new white and red leather.

Just when you think you’ve seen every possible version of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, Mansory steps in to remind us there’s always room for more drama. Last week, we stumbled across what was perhaps Mansory’s most extreme take on the Mercedes-Benz G-Class to date. Ever the company that likes to turn heads, the tuner has now presented what’s perhaps even a crazier G-Class, dubbed the Speranza.

Unveiled at Top Marques Monaco in Monte Carlo, this G-Wagen has been transformed into a convertible with rear-hinged suicide doors. If you’re looking to cruise down LA’s Sunset Boulevard in comfort while soaking up the sun and turning heads, this Mansory G-Class build might be just the thing.

Conceived as a one-off, the Speranza features one of Mansory’s custom bodykits that probably has Mercedes-Benz designers shaking their heads in disgust. The front end looks like an overly complex mismatch of parts and includes six LED DRLs running diagonally across two of the lower air intakes.

Mansory has fitted a new front bumper, paired with a color-matched grille, along with reworked fenders and a dramatically sculpted hood. Filling out the look is a set of 24-inch forged wheels, because anything smaller just wouldn’t be enough for something like this.

Then we get to the roof, or lack thereof. The top has been cut just behind the line of the windshield. Much like in a Jeep Wrangler, there is a central roof support and a collapsible red fabric roof. Mansory hasn’t said if the roof has to be folded away manually, or if it’s power-operated, but when folded away, it’ll give rear seat passengers a similar view to the wild Mercedes-Maybach G 650 Laundalet from back in 2017.

Inside, the Speranza has been given a full Mansory treatment, including carbon fiber accents across the steering wheel, dashboard, pedals, center console, and door panels. The seats and interior surfaces are now covered in white and red leather that looks more at home in a lounge than a traditional SUV.

No Mansory project would be complete without some performance gains. The tuner has added bigger turbos and a new exhaust with high-performance downpipes, allowing the 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 to deliver 809 hp and 848 lb-ft (1,150 Nm) of torque. That’s good enough for a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 4.0 seconds and a limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h).
