There’s no shortage of ways to dress up and accessorize a Hilux, but few transformations go as far as this one. In the world of aftermarket pickups, Thailand might just have cooked up one of the most convincing Toyota mashups yet transforming the mid-size truck into a convincing Tundra lookalike.

While the Tundra is a common sight on American highways, it’s not officially sold in most Asian markets. That gap inspired Icon Cars, based in the Thai province of Chonburi, to reimagine the Hilux with a full-size presence. The conversion kit is designed to fit both the seventh-generation Hilux Vigo and the current eighth-generation Hilux Revo, provided the donor vehicle was built after 2012.

The only untouched section of the Hilux is the middle portion of the body. That includes the doors, mirrors, greenhouse, and roof. Everything else has been swapped out for custom body panels that closely replicate the look of the Tundra.

Some components, like the headlights and taillights, seem to be genuine Tundra parts. The rest have been resized and reworked to fit the smaller Hilux body. That’s no small feat when you consider the size difference: the longest Tundra stretches up to 252.5 inches (6,414 mm), while a Hilux tops out at around 209.6 inches (5,325 mm).

The front end gets a full redesign, complete with a massive grille that dominates the face in true Tundra fashion. Around back, a sculpted tailgate and modern LED lighting carry the theme through.

The profile view gives the trick away, as the flared fenders and proportions hint that this isn’t a factory-built full-size truck. Still, the widened stance and aftermarket wheels give the truck a tougher, more aggressive look than any Hilux variant, even the GR Sport.

The upgrades aren’t limited to bodywork. Icon Cars also fits a suspension lift for added ground clearance, improving off-road capability and matching the visual bulk of the new body. Power, however, stays stock. Under the hood is the standard 2.8-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel from the Hilux, which delivers solid performance but lacks the muscle of the Tundra’s twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6.

Pricing and Availability

Icon Cars told Carscoops that the Tundra bodyit for the Hilux Vigo and Revo is priced from ฿350,000 (equal to around $10,700), although this doesn’t include the cost of the larger wheels or any suspension upgrades. For reference, a new Toyota Hilux in Thailand ranges from ฿584,000 to ฿1,509,000 (roughly $17,900 to $46,200), depending on the trim and equipment.

While this is one of the more comprehensive transformations available, it’s not the first time a Tundra-inspired kit has popped up. Japanese tuner GMG Double Eight previously offered a simpler version, though with a far less dramatic result.
