A preliminary order guide suggests Ford will make some big changes for 2027
1 hour ago
A preliminary guide lists the F-150’s 2.7L EcoBoost as deleted for 2027.
Ford’s 3.0L EcoBoost would become standard across much of the F-150 range.
Lower-content Tremor and Raptor models could bring down their starting prices.
Ford is about to launch a mid-cycle refresh of the F-150 for the 2027MY, and until now we didn’t quite know what to expect. Today, what appears to be a leaked order guide has surfaced online, and the changes are extensive. If accurate, the truck is getting a larger base engine, and some important trims might get lower starting prices. Let’s dive into the details.
The information comes from a guide posted to F150gen14.com. It appears to be from July 30 of this year so it’s very recent, and it barely mentions the 2.7-liter V6 that previously served as the base engine in the F-150. The only time it shows up is in the “Deleted” section under “Major Product Changes,” which is the page with all the juicy details.
A Bigger Base Engine
Instead of using the 2.7L unit, it appears as though the base F-150 will get the same 3.0-liter used in the Ranger Raptor. That said, we have no idea if it’ll make the same 405 hp (302 kW) and 430 lb-ft (583 Nm). If it does, it’ll be considerably more potent than the 2.7-liter, which made 325 hp (242 kW) and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm). The bigger engine is slated to be standard in many XL, STX, XLT, and lower-level Lariat configurations. The 5.0-liter V8, meanwhile, may become optional on King Ranch and Platinum models.
The entry-level Tremor 400A could be the more interesting change. It keeps the good stuff, including 33-inch all-terrain tires, skid plates, a locking rear differential, additional ride height, Trail Control, and Rock Crawl mode. On the flip side, it loses power seats, heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, B&O audio, and other niceties for cloth upholstery and a column shifter.
Same Trick For The Raptor
Ford appears to be applying the same formula to the Raptor. A new 800A package would retain the 450-hp (336-kW) high-output 3.5-liter EcoBoost, Fox Live Valve suspension, 35-inch tires, and heated and ventilated leather-trimmed front seats. It would lose the head-up display, 14-speaker B&O Unleashed audio, heated rear seats, memory features, Rigid fog lamps, and the larger Pro Power Onboard system.
There is no official pricing yet. But the guide also lists factory discount packages for certain builds, including up to $3,000 on an STX 200A. The new engine is the headline, but Ford’s real play may be simpler. Make the window sticker look friendlier without shouting too loudly about what was left on the factory floor.
