You can use the drawing function within Google Docs on a web browser to draw directly onto the page, or get even fancier by using the third-party app DocuSign. Let’s review how to sign a document on Google Docs.

How to sign a document in Google Docs (DocuSign)

The more complex way to sign a Google Doc is to use a third-party service called DocuSign. The first common misconception about the DocuSign eSignature app is that it isn’t free. While DocuSign does encourage users to buy into its premium plans, it is available to use freely if all you will be doing is signing documents.

Your first step, assuming you haven’t created a DocuSign account, is to go to the DocuSign website and do so. Scroll down until you see the GET DOCUSIGN FREE EDITION button, and click that. Follow the steps to create your free account, then continue.
