2022 Ford GT LM Edition Pays Homage to Past Le Mans Victories – CNET

Production on the current-generation Ford GT ends later this year, but before Ford sends its supercar off into the sunset, it has one last exclusive special edition lined up for fans of racing.

Ford on Wednesday introduced the 2022 GT LM Edition. As you may have guessed, LM stands for Le Mans, and this vehicle pays homage to the automaker’s 2016 Le Mans win, in addition to the historic 1-2-3 finish in 1966. Only 20 of these vehicles will be made, with customer deliveries beginning in the fall.

The GT LM Edition’s body will be painted in Liquid Silver, but the buyer will have the choice of a red or blue motif that adds tinting to the car’s exposed carbon fiber, including wheel accents. The GT LM receives a unique 3D-printed titanium exhaust, in addition to a titanium GT LM badge just above the tailpipes.

Inside, the buyer’s choice of red or blue will extend to the driver’s Alcantara-wrapped carbon fiber seat, although the passenger seat will remain black, but it will pick up matching contrast stitching. Perhaps the coolest part of the GT LM Edition’s interior is a unique instrument-panel badge, which was 3D-printed from a ground-down crankshaft that was once installed in Ford’s 2016 Le Mans race car.
