Disneyland’s Newest Ride Is Opening Jan. 27 – CNET

Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open at Disneyland on Jan. 27, ahead of the reopening of Mickey’s Toontown in the spring, Disney Parks announced Thursday.

The trackless ride, which opened at Disney World’s Hollywood Studios in Florida back in early 2020, has been under construction at the California theme park for the past few years. During 2022, Toontown also closed down for refurbishment.

The launch of Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway is part of the Disney 100 Years of Wonder (Disney100) celebration set for 2023, which commemorates a century of The Walt Disney Company.

Disneyland will be decked out with “platinum-infused decor” as part of the 100th anniversary celebration, Disney Parks said Thursday, and two new nighttime spectaculars will kick off: Wondrous Journeys at Disneyland and World of Color – One at California Adventure. The concept art for World of Color shows characters from Encanto, Soul, Moana, Coco, The Lion King and Mulan, while Disney says Wondrous Journeys “will feature nods to every Walt Disney Animation Studios film to date.”

The Magic Happens parade – which debuted just weeks before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the parks for over a year – will also be returning in the spring.
