Under 50-inch

OLED TVs represent the pinnacle of TV picture quality and, while we haven’t reviewed the A2 series yet, it should come close to the picture of the excellent C2 (which is also on sale, see below). This is a great price on an OLED TV, in part because of its smaller size and also because the A2 lacks the image quality features of models like the C2. That said, it’s still a heck of a deal. Note that you need to be signed in to Best Buy’s site to get this price.

Onn

This is simply one of the lowest prices we’ve seen on any 40-inch TV so far. Onn is Walmart’s own brand and we haven’t tested any Onn TVs, so we can’t speak to its picture quality, but at this price it’s tempting nonetheless. And it runs the Roku TV operating system, our favorite. Note that inventory may vary depending on stock at your local store, and that getting a Walmart Plus membership may help jump you to the front of the line.

50-inch and 55-inch

TCL

The TCL 5-Series doesn’t have the same level of picture quality as our favorite TV for the money, the 6-Series, but this is a great price on a midrange model. The Google TV operating system is also second fiddle to Roku in our book, but again… price.

Note that you need to be signed in to Best Buy to see this price.

The Samsung is one of our favorite mid-priced TVs, and it offers better features, image quality and more sizes than rivals like the TCL 4-Series and Sony X80K. All of the models between 43-inches and 60-inches are on sale, while the 50-inch is the sweet spot.

65-inch and over

The TCL 6-series has been one of CNET’s favorite televisions for the past few years. Though the TCL 65R646 variant has the Google TV operating system, instead of Roku, this TV is also half the price of its counterpart. Like the CNET Editor’s Choice the 65R646 also has Quantum Dot color with Mini-LED, 4K resolution and Dolby Vision.

The C2 is our favorite high-end TV for the money in 2022, and this is the best price of the year so far. Sure it’s still expensive, but it beats any non-OLED TV we’ve tested with perfect black levels, unbeatable contrast and superb off-angle viewing. It’s also available in other sizes, from 42 to 83 inches.

Note that in previous years LG slashed the price of its “C” models earlier in November than it has this year. For that reason we don’t expect a big price drop on this TV between now and Black Friday, but you never know.

One of the most-anticipated televisions of 2022, the Samsung QD-OLED  promises improved color, brightness and viewing angles compared with standard OLED TVs. Though we haven’t tested the TV in the lab, based on a hands-on David Katzmaier did in New York earlier in the year it appeared to offer excellent picture quality. At 41% off the Samsung rivals the LG C2 for price as well as picture.

Leave it to Amazon to release a brand-new TV then slash the price less than two months later. This is the cheapest 65-inch TV I’ve seen this year with full-array local dimming, my favorite picture-enhancing extra for non-OLED TVs. I haven’t reviewed it yet but from what I’ve seen it can’t match the picture quality or gaming features of TVs like the Vizio MQX or Hisense U8H, but it costs hundreds less and should still outperform entry-level TVs. And yes, you can turn off its creepy auto-detection features and always-listening mic.

Among 65-inch TVs we have reviewed, this Hisense U8H looks like the best Black Friday deal so far. Its image quality is just tremendous, thanks to superb brightness, and right now the price sits between the Vizio MQX and the TCL 6-Series, which are $50 more and less expensive, respectively. Until those prices change, the Hisense is our pick by a nose, although all three are excellent.

Hisense/CNET

In our budget TVs roundup, the A6 didn’t quite match the image quality of TCL and Vizio, but if you just want to pay as little as possible for a 75-inch screen, this is a great deal. We also liked its Google TV operating system, although not as much as Roku, and it moved a bit slowly on the A6. Then again, for this price you could always add a separate streaming device and still come out ahead.

FAQs

Should I wait for Black Friday to Buy a TV?

Sales are available right now, and if a deal is good there’s no reason to wait until Black Friday itself. This is as true during the pre-sales as it is any other time of the year. Sometimes Black Friday deals aren’t really deals at all, and several manufacturers produce “door busters” specifically for the day itself. The best advice is to go with established models, and don’t be afraid to buy a 2021 version as these often offer the best discounts.

Who has the best TV deals?

While Amazon is the default for most people when they’re shopping online the site doesn’t always have the best deals. Walmart, Target, Best Buy and more are also offering exclusive deals, including inhouse brands, for Black Friday.

What month is the cheapest to buy a TV?

While Black Friday is a great time to buy a TV there are also plenty of other opportunities to get a deal. For instance, the best discounts happen just after the holidays or when a new model goes on sale (from March onwards). So buying “last year’s TV” will often get you a model that’s just as good as the one that replaces it, but at a significant saving.
