If you’re looking for a large screen and serious hardware, you may want to grab the newest, 10th-gen iPad or an M2 iPad Pro. Meanwhile, people who want something more compact and lightweight can snag the iPad Air, or even an iPad Mini, which is now a few years old but is currently selling for the lowest price we’ve seen yet.

The most affordable iPad you’ll find right now is the ninth-gen iPad, which you can get on sale for as little as $279 at Walmart. It’s now a generation old, but it still features decent hardware, including an A13 Bionic chip, Apple’s True Tone display and an improved front-facing camera.
There’s also the the sixth-gen iPad Mini, which was released back in 2021 but has yet to receive an update. It was redesigned with an 8.3-inch display, an A15 Bionic chip, a USB-C charging port for a quick charge and a power button with Touch ID that makes it feel brand new even in 2023. It’s currently on sale for $469 at Amazon — though we have seen it for less.
The latest iPad Air, from early 2022, is a great option if you’re looking for a more affordable iPad Pro alternative. Its M1 processor makes it fast, but it lacks the better, faster-refreshing displays of the iPad Pro models. At $559, it’s nearly $60 more than the lowest price we’ve seen. But you save up to $70 on the 256GB model at Amazon.
As for the latest iPad Pro models, which come equipped with Apple’s latest M2 processor. You can currently save $50 on the 12.9-inch model but only $5 on the 11-inch model.
