When most people think about multiroom, the first brand to come to mind is Sonos. It’s the pioneer and industry leader of this space, and its speakers let you listen to music throughout your home over a reliable Wi-Fi connection, rather than relying on Bluetooth, which can be spotty at times. The company has expanded its lineup over the years — including with the new Era 100 and Era 300 speakers earlier this spring — and it now offers a wide range of speakers, from outdoor and tabletop speakers to soundbars and subwoofers.

Sonos has long been known for its stellar sound quality, and its latest S2 operating system supports hi-res audio standards like Dolby Atmos. Wi-Fi playback is compatible with Apple AirPlay 2 and Spotify Connect, as well as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands, so you can cast audio directly without needing to use the Sonos app. In addition, Sonos’ portable speakers add versatility with Bluetooth playback.

Despite the variety of Sonos’ speakers, one thing remains constant: the dearth of deals. Its speakers are rarely discounted. There are usually a few speaker sets on sale at Sonos if you’re looking for a multispeaker setup. For example, you can save $30 on a Roam and Move set or save $20 on a pair of Roam speakers. You can also save $29 on a pair of new Era 100 speakers or save $45 on two Era 300 speakers.

Right now neither Sonos nor Amazon nor any other online retail is offering any single-speaker models at a discount price, but you can save on Sonos Certified Refurbished products

We’ve assembled Sonos’ most popular products here, despite most of them not being discounted right now, and we’ll update this story as more Sonos speakers go on sale.

The new Sonos Era 100 replaces the Sonos One as the company’s mainstream indoor smart speaker. It sounds better than the One while also adding Bluetooth and a line-in port (via USB-C) for greater playback versatility. You can save $30 on a pair of Era 100 speakers. Read our Sonos Era 100 review.

The new Sonos Era 100 replaces the Sonos One as the company’s mainstream indoor smart speaker. It costs $30 more than the One, but in our estimation the extra cost is easily justified. In fact, in our review, we declared that the Era 100 is the best smart speaker for the money. It offers a trio of improvements from the One. The first two additions add versatility. The One lets you stream only via Wi-Fi, and the Era 100 adds Bluetooth and a line-in port (via USB-C) for greater playback versatility. Thirdly and most importantly, the Era 100 sounds better than the One. It is a little larger than the One and packs in two side-firing tweeters for stereo sound.

Sonos

The Sonos Era 300 boasts a completely new design and slots in as the company’s premium indoor smart speaker. It’s much larger than the Sonos Era 100 and includes Dolby Atmos spatial audio support along with dedicated stereo drivers and height speakers. It also features a built-in calibration routine called Quick Tune that uses the onboard “smart” microphones, in addition to the existing iOS Trueplay system.

The SL version of the Roam omits the microphone and costs $20 less than the regular Roam. It’s a good pick if you want to save money or have privacy concerns about Amazon or Google listening to you inside your home.

The SL skips the microphone and Amazon and Google voice commands, and so costs less than the Sonos One.

The Move is Sonos’ largest portable smart speaker. It offers the same Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity as the Roam and is weatherproofed, too, for use indoors and out. It’s considerably bigger than the Roam and costs more than twice as much, but it also produces bigger sound with better bass.

Sonos

The Five is a big tabletop speaker that operates over Wi-Fi. It doesn’t have Bluetooth connectivity or an onboard voice assistant. It can be positioned horizontally for stereo sound and switches to mono sound when sitting vertically. With its 3.5mm audio jack, you can connect a turntable, CD player or another device directly to the Five.
