2023 Subaru Solterra Reservations Open In The U.S. For A $250 Refundable Deposit

Subaru’s electric vehicle push is officially underway as the company has begun accepting reservations for the 2023 Solterra in the United States.

The reservation program runs through February 28th and requires customers to put down a $250 refundable deposit in exchange for the chance to be among the first to purchase or lease the electric crossover.

While Subaru is keeping pricing under wraps, the reservation process allows customers to select their preferred dealership as well as their desired trim. The automaker hasn’t released full details, but the website reveals the entry-level Solterra Premium will come equipped with LED headlights, an automatic climate control system, a blind-spot monitoring system, and EyeSight driver assist technologies.

The mid-level Solterra Limited features a more upscale exterior with fog lights, roof rails, and 20-inch alloy wheels. The model also gains a power liftgate and a unique rear spoiler.

Bigger changes occur in the cabin as the Limited comes equipped with a power driver’s seat, a heated steering wheel, and StarTex upholstery. Buyers will also find heated front and rear seats, a wireless smartphone charger, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink. They’re joined by a Harman Kardon premium audio system, a surround view camera, and a 12.3-inch infotainment system with cloud-based navigation and a voice assistant.

The range-topping Solterra Touring builds on the Limited by adding a panoramic glass roof, ventilated front seats, and a digital rearview mirror. The model also sports illuminated trim and an available two-tone roof.

Regardless of which trim is selected, all models come with a dual motor all-wheel drive system that develops 218 hp (163 kW / 221 PS) and 248 lb-ft (336 Nm) of torque. Subaru has also said the Solterra will have a range in excess of 220 miles (354 km) as well as a DC fast charging capability that delivers an 80% charge in less than an hour.  Speaking of charging, the company has partnered with EVgo to “provide customers with access to more than 800 public fast charging locations and 1,200+ L2 charging stalls spanning 68 metropolitan areas and 35 states.”

Once Subaru announces pricing in April or May, reservation holders will be notified to contact their dealer to complete the transaction. When everything is complete, they can look forward to getting their Solterra this summer.
