More and more people are using a virtual private network (VPN) to improve their browsing experience. There are so many providers out there to choose from that you may not know where to start. To give you a hand, we’ve rounded up the best VPN deals from many of the top providers.

A VPN encrypts your internet connection and allows you to route it through servers in different countries. It’s completely legal to use, and it means no one can access your data. Hackers can’t intercept your bank details, your ISP can’t monitor your activity, and so on. The new IP address you get in a different location means that your connection can’t be traced back to you either, so you’re both anonymous and secure.

These features offer more possibilities too. For example, having an IP address in a different country lets you access geo-restricted content, like watching UK Netflix from Spain or US Hulu from Japan. Personally, my VPN is never switched off.

The quality of VPN providers varies wildly, so finding the right one is key. You want to look for fast speeds, many servers across the world, and other premium features. There are plenty of free VPNs out there, but most are below par on performance or offer a very limited amount of data use per month.

Our summary of the best VPN deals is below. While we’re focusing on savings, we’ve only included reputable services, so you can choose the one that best fits your needs and budget.

Featured deal: Pay just $4 a month for NordVPN

NordVPN Two Year Deal

NordVPN claims to be the world’s leading VPN, and it certainly has impressive credentials. It has a massive network of over 5,500 NordVPN servers in 59 countries, and you can even route through two servers for what it calls ‘Double VPN’. To be honest, this is probably a bit overkill — your data is incredibly secure on one encryption — but if security is your highest priority then it’s nice peace of mind.

In our review of NordVPN, we said that this VPN offers everything you could want from a virtual private network. The security is excellent, through updates the apps have become easier to use, and the network speeds are incredible. Needless to say, we really enjoyed NordVPN.

Nord is $11.95 per month on a monthly basis, but the longer you commit, the more money you can save. There are deals on one- and two-year plans. If you commit for two years, you’ll be paying the equivalent of just $3.99 per month for one of the best VPNs around.

1. ExpressVPN

Express VPN Deals Android Authority

ExpressVPN is on the pricier side, but you get what you pay for. That includes super-fast speeds, a huge network of over 3,000 global VPN servers, a no-logging policy, and so much more. It’s our outright favorite VPN service and it’s my provider of choice too. I use it all day, every day, and it’s never let me down.

ExpressVPN is $12.95 per month if you pay by the month, but if you commit to a 12-month contract then you can make huge savings right now. Not only do you get it for the equivalent of $6.67 per month, but you’ll also get three months extra for free. There’s a 30-day money-back guarantee if you’re not happy with the service.

2. FastestVPN

FastestVPN Devices

Is it actually the fastest VPN? We haven’t reviewed it so we can’t comment, but it’s a well-regarded provider with solid features. Beyond the speed, it focuses on ad-blocking features and powerful anti-malware capabilities to keep you secure. It also boasts 99.99% uptime, but you can trust the killswitch to keep you safe if something should happen to your connection.

FastestVPN also features a strict no-log policy to keep your information safe. A VPN is only as useful as the number of servers it has, and FastestVPN provides access to 52 locations in 41 countries. You can access geo-restricted Netflix content, use Smart Connect to find the fastest server, and split tunnel to use some apps unprotected.

Not only is it only $20 for lifetime access, but you also get 2TB of free cloud storage space thrown in, and there’s a 15-day money-back guarantee if you’re not satisfied.

3. TunnelBear

TunnelBear Press Image VPN Deals

TunnelBear

TunnelBear isn’t quite at the elite heights of ExpressVPN or NordVPN. The focus (apart from cute bears) is on simplicity and ease of use. This is undoubtedly true, but it also translates to the features, with servers in only 23 countries. You won’t get a no-logging guarantee either as the provider is Canada-based. The basics are done well though, with good speeds and apps for multiple platforms.

TunnelBear is more affordable than the previous two options at $9.99 per month. But sign up for two years and you’ll effectively save 58% by paying the equivalent of just $4.17 per month.

TunnelBear — 2-Year Plan

Surfshark VPN Web Image

Some of the Android Authority team have Surfshark as their go-to VPN, citing the combination of performance and affordability. You do indeed get a lot of bang for your buck, and unlike most providers, Surfshark lets you use unlimited devices on your subscription. A host of features includes 15 Netflix libraries, a no-logging policy, and a kill-switch. Over 63 countries host more than 1,700 servers.

At $12.95 per month, Surfshark doesn’t sound like an affordable option, but most people take advantage of longer subscriptions. Right now, the 24-month is available for a one-off fee of $59.76, working out to a mere $2.49 per month, and you’ll get another two months thrown in for free. It’s superb value and refundable within the first 30 days if you’re not happy.

5. ProtonVPN

protonvpn

ProtonMail is one of the most secure email services out there, so it stands to reason that the same team knows how to protect your online activity too. That’s how ProtonVPN came to be, and it’s a service with a lot to offer.

ProtonVPN uses the highest encryption standards and VPN protocols. It also runs its entire network on dedicated servers and doesn’t depend on virtual servers. It comes with a network kill switch, a split tunneling option, and a double-hop feature called Secure Core. Based in Switzerland, it also doesn’t collect any activity or connection logs.

Unlike many of its competitors on this list, ProtonVPN offers you the option of a free service. While very limited, this is obviously a nice perk. It has a few different tiers of paid service too, with the Plus level being most akin to the other options above and below. The biggest savings are on the two-year plan, which is 33% off right now at $159 ($81 off).

ProtonVPN — 2-Year Plan

IPVanish doesn’t stand out among the VPN deals, but it’s a solid choice. Good speeds, over 1,400 servers in more than 75 locations, and unlimited bandwidth all add to the package.

It’s US-based, which might appeal to the patriot in you compared to other VPNs based in places like Panama and the British Virgin Islands. There’s a reason those providers choose those countries though. The US is a Five Eyes jurisdiction, meaning authorities can theoretically demand your personal information and share it with the UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. Still, the deals are well worth a look. Plus they all include 250GB of SugarSync cloud storage.

IPVanish — 1-Year Plan

CyberGhost Servers

CyberGhost offers a solid all-around package, which explains its customer base of over 10 million users. The Romanian-based provider offers a no-logging policy, dedicated servers for streaming services such as Netflix, and over 6,300 VPN servers located in 90 countries.

CyberGhost is confident you’ll be satisfied. Its 45-day money-back guarantee is more generous than most of the providers, but ensure you check the small print — some of these guarantees are invalidated if you go over a data limit. CyberGhost even gives you 24 hours for free.

$12.99 is the month-by-month price, but the three-year subscription is a bargain at $2.15 per month, plus you get three months extra for free. If you don’t want to commit that far ahead, the one-year plan work’s out to $3.95 per month.

CyberGhost — 3 Years and 3 Months

Private Internet Access is another US-based provider, but it’s a popular choice with some great features. It’s also regularly praised for its fast speeds, and with good reason. One nice gimmick is PIA lets you downgrade the security encryption from AES-256 to AES-128, speeding up the connection. That’s still very strong encryption, so if you know you’re on a safe network it should be more than enough.

PIA is a cost-effective option. It’s $9.95 per month, with an option to pay the equivalent of $2.19 per month if you sign up for three years.

Private Internet Access — 3-Year Plan

iProVPN on Smartphones

iProVPN is one of the new kids on the VPN scene, which means it needs to accumulate market share. It’s doing this by impressing on the service side and offering great deals to customers. This example via DailySteals can save you a whopping 94% on your lifetime plan.

We haven’t reviewed iProVPN yet, but digging into the reviews suggests it’s the real deal. The features are sure to impress, with good speeds, military-grade 256-bit AES encryption, no-logging policy due to its British Virgin Islands location, DNS leak protection, kill-switch, and more. The only eyebrow-raising factor is that there aren’t a huge number of servers compared to its rivals, but that’s likely to grow in time.

The service is usually $10 per month, but you can save big if you sign up for longer. The best you can do via the provider itself is $49.95 for a two-year plan. Very good indeed, but Dailysteals goes one better. You can get a lifetime plan right now for just $37.99 ($562 off).

10. Other notable VPN deals

NordVPN Pricing

There are other great deals to be had on other VPN providers, and it all depends on your budget. Some VPNs come with mixed reviews, but that’s in the context of an industry with a very high bar on quality. Often these options are perfectly serviceable and can be much more cost-effective than the deals outlined above.

Ivacy VPN is a great example. It isn’t perfect, but it’s a reliable option that has a 4.7-star Trustpilot score. It has many of the features you’d look for, and won an award last year for its high speeds.

Of the various deals, you can pay just $69.99 for a five-year plan on the website. That’s just $1.16 per month. For a limited time, you can even get a lifetime subscription from Tech Deals for a one-off fee of just $39.99. It’s worth noting that the big Tech Deals offers on VPNs are non-refundable, which is the trade-off you make for the huge savings.

Ivacy VPN: Lifetime Subscription

VPN Unlimited

While the jurisdiction (US) isn’t the best for logging policy, VPN Unlimited does offer over 400 servers in more than 80 locations and an excellent Trustpilot score. It’s perfectly fine for the VPN basics, which is all the majority of people want in a VPN.

On the website, VPN Unlimited is $9.99 per month, but a lifetime subscription is $199.99. Right now you can do even better than that on Tech Deals, with a five-device, lifetime subscription available for just $39.99.
