YouTube is one of the world’s largest online video platforms and more than a billion people use it. With such a wide audience, there’s a lot of room for different types of automotive channels and reviewers which made us wonder: what’s the most annoying thing about YouTube car reviewers?
Think about how wide-ranging these channels and their reviews can be. Regular Car Reviews is about the most basic-looking yet popular channels on the platform. Some of the thoughts and writing therein are sincerely thought-provoking, well-researched, and deep. Is that enough to get you past the plain footage and the fart jokes?

Scotty Kilmer is one of the oldest and most popular automotive YouTubers in the business with both practical videos and opinion pieces. To me, though, he comes off as an old man yelling into the void of the internet and getting attention through click-bait titles. One who lacks a deep love for passionate engineering or an understanding of what it feels like to have a car figuratively get into your veins. Again, though, that’s just my opinion.
Big name channels aren’t without their potential pain points either though. Top Gear has covered a lot but some of their reviews seem more like glitzy walk-arounds than actual information on the experiential parts of the car. Supercar Blondie is another channel notorious for car reviews where driving isn’t necessarily the highlight. Does flash taken away from the review-focused content in your mind?

Perhaps it’s the channels that are less about entertainment and more about information that bug you. Engineering Explained and Doug DeMuro seem to thrive in the minutiae of automobiles and automotive technology. Still, I skip about 90 seconds into every one of DeMuro’s videos to get past the ad about CarsAndBids every time I watch one.
Perhaps your gripe isn’t about any single channel or group of channels but about how the reviews themselves are conducted. Does a review get ruined in your eyes if the person doing the job fails to mention a specific feature, has an attitude or tone of voice that puts you off, or spends too much time on something you’re uninterested in?
