MINI Celebrates International Women’s Day With New Pat Moss Edition

MINI is celebrating International Women’s Day by unveiling the new Pat Moss Edition.

The namesake model pays tribute to Pat Moss, who “made motorsport history in 1962, scoring the first international rally victory for the British brand on the prestigious Noordwijk – Monte Carlo – Noordwijk route, better known as the International Tulip Rally.”

While Moss passed away in 2008, the brand is now celebrating her accomplishment with special versions of the Cooper S and John Cooper Works. Production will be limited to 800 units globally, but Americans will only get the John Cooper Works variant.

Available in Pepper White or Midnight Black Metallic, the special edition features red mirror caps and a multitone roof that starts as Chili Red before transitioning to Melting Silver and then finally to Jet Black. Those aren’t the only special touches as there are tulip graphics on the side scuttles, hubcaps and C-pillars. They’re joined by a graphic of Pat Moss’s signature, a decal with information about the rally, and a horizontal hood stripe with three-dimensional “737 ABL” lettering that honors the registration number of the classic model that won the rally.

Moving into the cabin, there’s special sill plates and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with tulip graphics. Drivers will also find Moss’ signature as well as an “abstract depiction of engine pistons moving up and down.”

The Pat Moss Edition will arrive at European dealerships this May, while a U.S. launch is scheduled for August. Full details will be released closer to launch, but MINI USA said the special edition will be based on the John Cooper Works Hardtop with the Iconic Trim and feature additional equipment including active cruise control and parking assist. The company added the vehicle will come standard with a six-speed manual, but an eight-speed automatic will be available at no extra cost.
