A news crew has captured a hit-and-run on camera at one of the most dangerous intersections in Los Angeles while filming a story about a separate crash at the area.
The KTLA news crew was in South Los Angeles last week with reporter Gene Kang filming a story about a fatal crash that occurred on February 26 at the intersection of 84th and Hoover. As Kang was recorded his piece-to-camera, a horn can be heard blaring before a Honda Accord sped through the intersection and hit a Genesis sedan.
As if simply capturing this crash on camera wasn’t dramatic enough, the driver of the Accord then hops a curb and immediately flees the scene and can be seen speeding down the road.

“Our security guard Walter Mann yelled ‘get back’ and we moved as the car came racing towards us. It veered away at the last second and T-boned the car,” Kang said when recounting the crash.
The news crew promptly called 911 to report the crash. When authorities arrived, they were able to find a license plate that had fallen off the Accord and suspect that the driver was involved in a previous crime, hence why they fled.
It is not yet clear if the driver of the Accord has been found but fortunately, the passengers in the Genesis were not injured in the crash and were attended to by police. Moreover, it appears that the damage is limited to one of the rear doors.
