Ford And Stellantis Recall More Than Half A Million Vehicles

More than half a million vehicles have been recalled in a pair of announcements including Ford and Stellantis. For the former, more than 150,000 F-150 pickup trucks will need to return and for the latter, over 370,000 RAM and Dodge products require an unrelated fix. Here’s everything you need to know if you own one of the affected vehicles.

Ford says that the affected 2021 F-150s might have their windshield wiper fail. To remedy the concern, Ford will replace the windshield wiper motor on 157,306 F-150 trucks.

Of course, this isn’t a constant concern since it won’t always be raining but as we get into the rainy season danger could climb. Ford is sending a letter to all affected owners no later than April 18th, 2022. All repairs will be free of charge to owners.

Thankfully, the issue to Dodge and RAM owners seems to be less urgent. It involves an ABS light that won’t illuminate if there’s an issue with the Anti-lock braking system. While it won’t in and of itself cause a problem, the lack of alert to drivers could prevent them from recognizing that service of some sort is needed.

At the heart of the problem is the ABS module itself which doesn’t send the signal to illuminate the light when appropriate. Stellantis says that they’ll update whatever software might be required and swap out the faulty parts for new ones at no charge to the customer.

The issue affects multiple vehicles under the Stellantis umbrella and includes the 2021-2022 Dodge Durango SUV and heavy-duty RAM 2500s, and RAM 3500s built from 2019 to 2022. Stellantis plans to send all affected owners a letter about the recall by April 29th, 2022.

Some 29,924 vehicles in Canada, as well as 1,029 in Mexico, and a further 7,896 abroad are a part of the total 370,437 units involved in the recall. Stellantis also pointed out that they were unaware of any injuries related to this issue and said that a supplier alerted it to the problem, to begin with.
