Deaf And Dead: Would You Pay $8,000 To Let This Barstool With A 9.4L V8 Kill You?

Deaf And Dead: Would You Pay $8,000 To Let This Barstool With A 9.4L V8 Kill You?

Built by Mountain Boss Hoss in Friedens Pennsylvania, the “Hossfly” is a ridiculous “barstool” that you can drive around, and you can buy this one if you think it’s a reasonable use of your hard-earned dough.

The basis of the contraption is a Chevrolet V8 engine, with a bar seat on top of the carburetor, and a steering wheel to hang onto. You can buy a brand new one of these with a small block for $14,900, or Boss Hoss will sell you a kit if you want to use a big block.

According to Chevrolet, the 572-cubic-inch (9.4-liters) V8 engine fitted to this Hossfly makes 727 horsepower and 680 lb-ft of torque. The engine is capable of sending a full-sized vehicle down a 1/4-mile drag strip in the 9-seconds range, but we’re sure it’ll send you to the hospital much faster.

The engine is connected to the wheels via some sort of automatic transmission, which can propel the vehicle down the trailer park alley at 25 miles per hour, and 5 mph in reverse (terrifying). The Hossfly is also able to tow 2,000 pounds, as if you were thinking of attaching your boat to it, or something.

Oh yeah, and there are no mufflers or anything, so the 8 individual Zoomie header pipes can rattle your skull worse than the hangover that results from consuming enough alcohol to think riding this monster is a good idea.

Luckily, it fits in the bed of a short box truck, so you can take it with you after you inevitably injure yourself and don’t want to play anymore.

The Hossfly is expected to bring between $4,000 and $8,000 at the upcoming Mecum Houston Auction from March 31 to April 2nd. The deathtrap is part of the larger Triple J Ranch Collection, which also features unique cars such as the Monkee Mobile Replica, Flinstones Flintmobile Golf Cart, and a DeLorean Time Machine replica.
