Fiat Electrifies The Dolcevita Special Edition With The 500 And 500X Mild Hybrids

Fiat has launched yet another special edition for the remaining ICE-powered 500 range called the Dolcevita. If you are having deja-vu, it is because the 500 Dolcevita was launched in 2019, and the 500X Cabrio Dolcevita followed in 2021. However, for 2022, the models are updated with mild-hybrid powertrains and slightly different color combinations for a fresh look. Fiat was going for an open-air driving experience, thus the new Dolcevita special editions are exclusively combined with soft-top bodystyles.

Starting with the 500X, it is fitted with the new mild-hybrid powertrain that was introduced to the range earlier this year. Thus, it combines a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder producing 128 hp (96 kW / 130 PS) and 240 Nm (177 lb-ft) of torque with a 48-Volt BSG electric motor adding an extra 20 hp (15 kW / 20 PS) and 41 lb-ft (55 Nm) of torque. Power is transmitted to the front axle through a new seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

Visually, the Dolcevita gets a Gelato White exterior shade tastefully combined with an Ivory-colored reclining soft-top, duo-tone 18-inch alloy wheels, chrome/satin accents and the Dolcevita logo on the front fenders. Inside, there are Ivory-colored soft-touch seats with white 500 logos and a body-colored dashboard. Standard equipment includes the 7-inch Uconnect infotainment, navigation, a rearview camera, auto headlights and auto wipers.

Moving on to the aging 500, the Dolcevita tries to add some spice into the mix for those who are not ready to step into the fully electric world with the new 500 EV. Under the bonnet lies the 1.0-liter three-cylinder FireFly engine producing 69 hp (51.5 kW / 70 PS) and 68 lb-ft (92 Nm) of torque, which is electrified since 2020 with the addition of a 12-volt BSG motor and a small lithium-ion battery.

The Dolcevita is only available in 500 Cabrio bodystyle featuring a Gelato White paint, Beige soft-top, black diamond-cut 16-inch alloy wheels and chrome mirror caps. The interior is upgraded with Ivory seats upholstered in Frau leather, a light-colored wooden look for the dashboard, a leather gear shifter and white borders on the floormats.

Fiat didn’t reveal pricing for the models but it is expected to be slightly higher than the standard mild-hybrid variants.
