Hear The Ferrari Purosangue And Its V12 For The Very First Time

While the Ferrari Purosangue will soon enter the burgeoning market of luxurious and high-performance SUVs, it will do so with a key point of difference between it and all of its rivals; a naturally-aspirated V12.

Ferrari confirmed that its first-ever SUV will launch with a V12 earlier this month and a handful of prototypes have been filmed near the company’s Italian headquarters, allowing us to hear the V12 in all its glory for the first time.

Technical specifications about the V12 that will power the Purosangue have not yet been confirmed but it will likely be very similar to the 6.5-liter unit powering the 812 Superfast, albeit tweaked to better suit the SUV. Given that Ferrari’s V12 can comfortably produce over 800 hp, it seems inevitable that the Purosangue will easily out-perform the current Lamborghini Urus that is capped at 650 hp.

In March, Ferrari released a teaser image for the Purosangue. This image confirmed that the SUV will have a dramatic front end with striking headlights and LED daytime running lights. It could also be seen sporting a large grille and air intakes. Previously leaked images of the Purosangue’s rear end have shown that it will have taillights similar to the 296 GTB while also rocking quad exhaust pipes and a pronounced diffuser.

While we know that the Purosangue will launch with a V12, it seems likely that a number of different engine options will be offered. One possibility is thought to be the hybrid powertrain of the 296 GTB that couples a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter V6 with an electric motor to pump out a combined 819 hp.

Ferrari will unveil the Purosangue later this year and it will likely land in the hands of customers in early 2023.
