Citroën Launches Adventurous My Ami Buggy Limited Edition Inspired By Concept

Citroën unveiled the My Ami Buggy, a special edition of the electric quadricycle inspired by last year’s concept, coming with a fabric roof and metal doors alongside adventurous bits. The model will be produced in a limited number of 50 units, all reserved for the French market.

The production version of the My Ami Buggy is not as radical-looking as the concept but it still incorporates some cool features making it look ready for adventure.

The plastic body panels are painted in Khaki, combined with yellow accents, metal tuning instead of doors, a removable grey fabric roof, and a new set of gold-painted 14-inch wheels. It also gets plastic cladding on the bumpers, fenders, and side sills, plus a new trim around the headlights and taillights making it look more crossover-ish.

The roof, made of waterproof and UV-resistant fabric, can be manually detached via span fasteners, and fits behind the seats when it’s rolled up. The exact same part is expected to be used in the rumored Fiat Topolino which will be a sibling to the Citroën Ami and the Opel Rocks-e.

Gone are the grippy off-road tires and the protective metal elements of the concept, but it is not that anyone would ever think of taking the Ami off-road. Regular tires are also good for the electric range which is 43 miles (70 km) in the base model. There are no mechanical changes with the My Ami Buggy retaining the standard 5.5 kWh lithium-ion battery and the 8 hp (6 kW / 8 PS) electric motor.

Inside the cabin we find yellow accents on the storage bins, bag hook, and door opening straps, as well as yellow stitching on the black seats and yellow seams on the floor mats. Each My Ami Buggy will be numbered, and feature a “My Ami Buggy Ultra Limited Edition” plate on the dashboard. Owners will be able to personalize their vehicle by adding a message at the front.

Sales of the My Ami Buggy will start on June 21 in France, with deliveries scheduled to start on August 8. Citroën didn’t reveal pricing, nor it did mention anything about exporting the special edition to other markets, but Eurig Druce, Managing Director of Citroën UK, said that “If there’s sufficient interest from customers here, then there’s every conceivable chance we could see future versions of My Ami Buggy on sale in the UK”.
