Bentley Updates Continental GT Mulliner Flagship With Speed’s Power And Performance

Bentley is revamping the W12-powered Continental GT Mulliner with chassis and performance updates from the Speed model.

The big news is that the updated Continental GT Mulliner now gets the more powerful version of the W12 engine straight from the Speed model, but this isn’t just it. Bentley also gave it all-wheel-steering and the trick eLSD rear differential, both of which were exclusive to the Conti GT Speed until now, while retaining its focus on luxury only like a proper Mulliner can.

Now under the hood of the Continental GT Mulliner as well, the most powerful version of the twin-turbo 6.0-liter W12 engine produces a healthy 650 hp (485 kW / 659 PS) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft) of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) comes in 3.6 seconds (-0.1 seconds) while top speed is set at 335 km/h (208 mph), matching the Continental GT Speed.

Those who prioritize performance can also get the optional carbon-ceramic brakes, while the variable ESC, the all-wheel-steering, and the electronic limited-slip differential will make sure you get the most out of the W12’s power on the road. Furthermore, the Bentley Dynamic Ride system and the three-chamber active air suspension come standard – just like in the Speed and the Azure.

Visually, the most expensive Continental GT can be distinguished by the unique 22-inch wheels with self-leveling badges, the Mulliner-specific Double Diamond matrix pattern on the grille and the front fenders, and the Mulliner emblems. The exterior accents can be specified in either bright chrome or gloss black in the Mulliner Blackline Specification. Accordingly, the mirror caps are either satin silver or black with integrated welcome lamps putting up a show at night in combination with the illuminated outed door sills.

Inside, the owner can choose between eight three-color combinations proposed by Mulliner, and among 88 piano wood veneers – just like in its predecessor. The seats, door cards, and rear quarter panels feature the “Diamond in Diamond” quilting with a total of around 400,000 stitches in your desired color. Mulliner logos are embroidered on the seats, the floor mats feature micro-piping, the center console has a diamond milled technical finish, and the roof is upholstered in either indented hide or smooth hide. Finally, there is a Breitling clock on the center console combined with matching brushed metal graphics on the digital instrument cluster.

The W12-powered Bentley Continental GT Mulliner, available in both coupe and convertible body styles, will make its dynamic debut at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed together with the V8-powered Continental GT S. Bentley will also keep offering the V8-powered Continental GT Mulliner, whilst without the sporty chassis upgrades of its more powerful sibling.
