Hyundai will be unveiling some pretty cool N-branded models in the 2022 N Day event on Friday, July 15, but photos of a concept based on the Ioniq 6 have already surfaced online giving us an idea of what to expect.
The model that was shared by YouTube channel Shortscar looks like a Hyundai Ioniq 6 fitted with an aggressive bodykit but the Korean Car Blog reports it is the RM22 concept. All of the previous concepts from the RM (rear midship) project – the RM14, RM15, RM16, RM19, and RM20e – were based on the Veloster but it now seems that Hyundai moved on to the Ioniq 6 as the new donor car.

The RM22 comes with a unique front bumper featuring a large lower intake that is not present in the EV-only Ioniq 6, a massive splitter with aerodynamic fins on the sides, “bad-boy” style headlights, and a vented bonnet. On the profile, the large-diameter wheels with five double spokes look like the ones we usually see from the German tuner AC Schnitzer.
More importantly, Hyundai added a pair of wider front and rear fenders, side sill extensions and side intakes, possibly feeding air to the rumored mid-mounted unit. Speaking of which, the RM22 is believed to be fitted with a hydrogen-electric powertrain, focused on high performance. The previous Veloster-based RM20e concept produced 799 hp (596 kW / 810 PS) from an electric-only powertrain so we should expect similar figures from the new version.
Besides the RM22, the 2022 N Day event on July 15 will host the premieres of the production-spec Hyundai Ioniq 5 N hot hatch, and another mysterious performance model that was teased a few days ago with a low-slung silhouette and prominent aero components. Stay tuned for more.
