2023 Lincoln Corsair Gains A New Face, Hands-Free Driving Tech And Bigger Screens

Three and a half years after the debut of the Lincoln Corsair, the automaker revealed the facelifted version of the SUV. The 2023 Corsair gains a redesigned face with a larger grille, a new infotainment touchscreen, fewer buttons, and the Active Glide ADAS suite, while losing the most powerful ICE-only variant on the way.

Starting with the exterior, changes are focused on the front. Compared to the outgoing model, the grille of the facelifted Corsair takes up more space on the front bumper, the side intakes are taller reaching closer to the headlights, while a horizontal chrome bar has been added above the lower central opening. The rest of the bodywork – including the rear end – remains largely unchanged, setting aside new designs for the alloy wheels, and two extra shades in the color palette (Whisper Blue and Crystal Red).

Moving inside, the highlight is the larger free-standing 13.2-inch touchscreen on the center console, replacing the old 8-inch unit and incorporating the new SYNC4 infotainment. It is still combined with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, although with revised graphics for a high-tech look.

Notably, Lincoln designers opted for eliminating a large sum of physical controls from the now-smaller center console. While this change blesses the facelifted Corsair with larger storage compartments and cleaner looks for the dashboard, it also brings the disadvantage of moving the climate controls in the touchscreen menu, something that might put off some buyers. Finally, two new interior color options are added, called Smoked Truffle and Eternal Red.

The 2023 Lincoln Corsair is only available with two powertrain options, after dropping the turbocharged 2.3-liter from the range. This means buyers can opt for either the mildly-updated ICE-only turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol producing 250 hp (186 kW / 253 PS), or the flagship plug-in hybrid with a 2.5-liter petrol engine and an electric motor producing a combined 266 hp (198 kW / 290 PS). The former is offered in FWD and AWD flavors with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, while the latter brings e-AWD capability with a CVT gearbox.
