Porsche Vision GT Spyder Is A Sexy Roofless Single-Seater For Gran Turismo 7

Porsche is known for offering open-top versions of their sportscars and hypercars, so why not do the same for digital-only concepts? Thus, the company unveiled the Porsche Vision GT Spyder as a follow-up to the futuristic concept from last year, making it available to the Gran Turismo 7 video game on the latest PlayStation consoles.

Porsche announced the new concept on Twitter, together with four digital photos. Predictably, it looks just like the regular Vision GT with the exception of the roof and the rear deck. More specifically, the Vision GT Spyder goes for single seater cabin similar to the real-life Ferrari Monza SP1 or the digital-only Jaguar Vision GT Roadster, with a permanent cover on the passenger’s side. The glass canopy is gone, with a roofless configuration and a tiny windshield for better aerodynamics.

The Zuffenhausen company was coy on details, but we suspect that the Vision GT Spyder inherits the same electric powertrain from its sibling, with a combined output of 1,274 hp (950 kW / 1,292 PS). It could also be even more lightweight than the original, thanks to the omission of the roof. Polyphony Digital has made sure that weather conditions in Gran Turismo are as realistic as possible, but gamers are not afraid to get wet, allowing Porsche not to commit to any kind of retractable roof mechanism for a true Spyder experience.

Porsche built a full-size model of the Vision GT for show purposes, but the Vision GT Spyder will most likely remain a digital-only affair. Gamers will be able to drive the new concept in the Gran Turismo 7 starting from September 29. Mind you, the regular Porsche Vision GT has been available on the PlayStation game since March 4. Which one would you take for a spin on a virtual track day?
