BMW Hosting Three-Day M Celebration In Spartanburg Facility

BMW’s sprawling Spartanburg facility in South Carolina will celebrate the 50th anniversary celebrations of BMW M this weekend at the BMW Zentrum, The Ultimate Driving Museum, and the BMW Performance Center.

The festivities will start on Friday, October 14 at The Ultimate Driving Museum where attendees will be presented with a display featuring more than 25 vehicles from the BMW M division, including the 1972 BMW 3.0 CSL Batmobile, 2012 M3 CRT, and the 2018 M8 GTE race car.

On Friday evening, an event will be held at BMW Zentrum honoring Jochen Neerpasch, BMW’s former director of motorsport and the creator of BMW M. The event will include a panel with head of BMW product communications Tom Plucinsky, development driver Eddie Cheever, and IMSA legend Bill Auberlen. Tickets for the VIP reception cost $195.

On Saturday, the BMW Performance Center will host a special event where guests will be able to drive some of M’s latest vehicles during two two-hour sessions running from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. A host of iconic M models will also be displayed throughout the day. The 2023 M2 and XM will also be displayed to enthusiasts in the U.S. for the very first time, showcased at the BMW Performance Center.

The Ultimate Driving Museum will also be open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and various BMW guests will speak during the day. Tickets for the driving event are available for $135.

The festivities will end on Sunday at the BMW CCA headquarters with a Cars and Coffee show hosted by the BMW M chapter. The event is tipped to attract dozens of new and classic M vehicles and also include the 2023 M2 and XM models. The Cars and Coffee will run from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. before attendees depart at noon for a drive along some of the state’s best roads.
