Chevrolet accidentally leaked the 2024 Corvette E-Ray earlier this month and now spy photographers are claiming to have caught the model undisguised in the flesh. However, things might not be so clear cut.

While the prototype closely resembles the leaked configurator images – as it sports a monotone appearance, a split four-tailpipe exhaust system, and a relatively modest spoiler – this could actually be the 2023 Corvette Z06.

While the lack of a center-mounted four-tailpipe exhaust system would suggest otherwise, GM Authority and Corvette Blogger note the prototype has an exhaust that appears to be from certain export versions of the Z06. Adding to the confusion is that the E-Ray is slated to share its body with the Z06, so it’s hard to distinguish between them especially when you include overseas variants.

Is This An Undisguised 2024 Corvette E-Ray Hybrid Or The 2023 Z06?

The hybrid Corvette will sport a handful of special touches including a lightly revised interior with a flat-bottom steering wheel that sports E-Ray badging.  There will also be new switchgear on the side of the center console and they appear to be an engine start/stop system deactivation button as well as something related to the battery.

While the car’s styling is no longer a mystery, powertrain details remain more elusive.  That being said, the E-Ray might be a traditional hybrid instead of a plug-in hybrid.

We’ll learn full details closer to the car’s launch next summer, but the model is expected to have a 6.2-liter V8 engine as well as a front-mounted electric motor that is powered by a small battery pack. This setup should give the car all-wheel drive as well as a combined output in excess of 600 hp (447 kW / 608 PS).  How much more remains the biggest question as the standard Corvette develops up to 495 hp (369 kW / 502 PS), while the Z06 pumps out 670 hp (500 kW / 679 PS).
