When it comes to modifying Teslas, your options are somewhat limited given the fact that they don’t have engines. As a result, many (but not all) of the most unique Tesla builds focus more on aesthetics and functionality than they do on performance, and this Model S ute is a great example of that. Like the Model 3-based “Truckla” from a few years ago, this car is also just a Tesla with the rear chopped off, but it’s based on the larger Model S instead.

Spotted on Reddit the two-door Model S pickup is dubbed “Teslamino”, which we assume is a portmanteau of Tesla and the Chevy El Camino ute. But as much as we’d like to joke that this creation was the result of frustrations with the Cybertruck’s numerous delays, it actually predates its reveal by about 7 months. Whereas the Cybertruck was revealed in November 2019, the first post of the Teslamino on its dedicated Instagram page dates back to April of that year.

The car started life as a pre-facelift 85 model, meaning it sends 362 hp (367 PS / 270 kW) and 325 lb-ft (441 Nm) of torque to the rear wheels only. In the build’s first iteration, it had no rear windshield, no finishing beyond the front doors, and the tailgate didn’t fold down, but it did have a small lift and all-terrain tires.

In its current state, the Model S‘s entire rear is now completely finished, featuring sealed-off rear doors, sail panels, and a rear window that even has its sliding opening. The car has also received the front bumper from the post-facelift model to help modernize it a bit.

The bed has also been finished in full metal, but some of its cargo room has been eaten up by the rear suspension. Most importantly, though, it that the bed now actually functions, but it leaves an unsightly opening in the rear bumper to allow for proper clearance. That being said, the camo Tesla ute is still a work-in-progress, so there is a very likely chance that a more elegant solution will eventually be devised.
