We recently asked you all what the most generic-looking cars on the automotive market were. Not only did more than 50 comments come in on the topic but for once, most of you all agreed on the worst offenders. Here are the most generic-looking new cars according to you.

Amazingly, the first thing that most of you agreed on is the fact that the car in our lead image in the original QOTD was not drab. That was the Jaguar XE but we argued that it and the XF aren’t different enough. Another thing everyone seems to feel deep in their bones is that its SUVs, not sedans, that look the most generic.

DB went after one of the fastest production SUVs ever, the Model X, saying that it looks like a speech bubble. Ron backed that up by expanding it to the whole range. “Every Tesla looks exactly alike and are as common (and equally forgettable) as the beige Camrys of the 90’s,” they said. We can’t really disagree and while Tesla models might have looked advanced when they came on the scene, they seem to be aging poorly in the eyes of many. That might be why the Model 3 is supposedly getting an update this year.

All new VW SUVs is the answer that KAG25 gave and 22 of you agreed with him. Somewhat surprisingly for a comment with that many upvotes, nobody disagreed. Since DB’s comment about the Model X was followed up with similar ire for the Model 3 and Y, it seems that lineup-wide comments like that should count.

The top spot is shared completely by two snooze fests. Namely, they are the Ford Escape and the Toyota Corolla Cross. They tie because both Holden Ute and Toronado_II mentioned both and combined, they received 43 upvotes and no downvotes.

Quite frankly, nobody really specified which Ford Escape they were talking about so we’re gonna ding both the outgoing model and the incoming one. Sure, the new one has Mustang Mach-E-esque headlights but it’s still pretty drab.
