The PHEV Urus could make as much as 808 hp from a powertrain derived from the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid.

Lamborghini recently updated the 5-year-old Urus, and many expected the facelift to include the new plug-in hybrid version of the super SUV. This was not the case as Lamborghini is still working on the electrified Urus. Our spy photographers were able to capture a prototype of this vehicle testing, which has dropped some of its camouflage since the last time we saw it.
Thanks to that camo drop, we’re able to get a better look at the design. The changes appear to be subtle, but we at least know it wears the bodywork of the facelifted model, meaning we can expect some tweaks to the front and rear ends.
Additionally, our spy photographers reported that Lamborghini has lengthened the front end ever so slightly to accommodate the extra room needed for the hybrid system, and as such, the prototype features a longer bumper, and a longer hood. The final design change, and the telling feature that this is indeed the hybrid model, is the secondary fuel door opposite the main one for the electric charger.
The interior of the prototype is completely covered, though we don’t expect it to deviate too much, if at all, from the non-hybrid Urus S.
It’s been reported that the Urus PHEV will share its powertrain with the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S E-Hybrid, combining a 4.0L twin-turbo V8 with an electric motor. One key difference, however, is that the Urus is expected to make significantly more power, with reports indicating a maximum output of up to 808 hp (820 PS / 603 kW). Even if they were to use the Porsche’s exact powertrain with no upgrades, it would still put out 670 hp (680 PS / 500 kW), which is already 13 hp (13 PS / 10 kW) more than even the Urus Performante.
No official release date has been confirmed for the yet-to-be-named plug-in-hybrid Urus, but it’s expected to arrive sometime this year as a 2024 model.
