Renault continues the teaser campaign for the all-new sixth generation of the Espace prior to its debut in early spring 2023. The model that once was a pioneer in the minivan segment morphs into an SUV for the first time since 1984. In fact, the new Renault Espace is a longer version of the Austral, offering a more spacious cabin that is able to accommodate up to seven passengers.

The new teasers reveal the silhouette of the Espace, confirming the shared design cues with the Austral. The differences are focused on the rear end, with a longer tail and a more upright rear windshield. The second teaser highlights the pronounced rear shoulders and the windowline of the Espace which boasts a thicker body-colored D-pillar compared to the Austral.

Renault confirmed that the new Espace measures 4.72 m (185.8 inches) long, which makes it a full 21 cm (8.3 inches) longer than the Austral, but 14 cm (5.5 inches) shorter than its predecessor. Despite the smaller footprint, the French company says that the spacious cabin is wider than the outgoing Espace.

The new model will be available in five-seater and seven-seater configurations, with Renault describing it as a “comfortable long-haul ride for up to 7 passengers”. The dashboard is expected to feature Renault’s OpenR cockpit combining a 12-inch infotainment, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 9.3-inch head-up display.

We already knew that the 2024 Renault Espace rides on the CMF-CD architecture, which is shared with the likes of the Nissan X-Trail and the Mitsubishi Outlander among others. Engine options will most likely be carried over from the Austral, including mild-hybrid and full-hybrid powertrains producing up to 197 hp (147 kW / 200 PS). As with its smaller sibling, all trims are expected to come in front-wheel drive flavor.
