The Opel Lotus Omega is one of the wildest four-door sports sedans ever created. With some 377 hp (281 kW) on tap and a top speed north of 175 mph (281 km/h), it was an absolute monster when it arrived on the scene in 1992. Now, there are two of them sitting at the same dealership in Florida.

If you’re wondering why we haven’t called this a Lotus Carlton it’s because it’s not a Carlton. It’s an Omega, which basically just means that it’s left-hand drive as the Carlton was right-hand drive. If you’re not sure what we’re talking about let us define it in very clear terms. This sedan was so fast for its day that it could easily embarrass contemporary supercars.

Based on the very pedestrian Vauxhall Carlton or Opel Omega, Lotus imbued this car with an upgraded engine, a pair of turbos, four-piston AP brake calipers, and other improvements. Power was sent from the 3.6-liter engine to the rear wheels via a six-speed manual transmission.

Aside from its obvious performance capabilities, the Carlton and Omega twins garnered a great deal of notoriety due to alleged use by criminals to outrun police multiple times during a crime spree in the 1990s. Evidently, its high top speed made it the perfect getaway car.

The two cars now for sale at United Imports of Jacksonville, Florida both look like they’re in excellent condition. One has approximately 69,875 miles on the odometer and is listed for $69,850. According to its listing, it spent most of its life in France before coming to America about three years ago.

The other Omega features just 36,531 miles and a price tag a bit higher at $84,550. Its history includes a single owner, a man who owned an Opel dealership and had the car serviced there throughout its life.

Both cars come in the same British Racing Green color palette with a black interior. Each one is also title-able across the entire country. This is for sure the kind of car that will still draw a crowd at cars and coffee while sneaking under the radar just about everywhere else.
