In addition to adding new models to its range, including the HS3 and HS6, Chinese automaker Hongqi has found the time to design an intriguing all-electric concept car that will hit the market in 2024.

The concept is dubbed the E202 and comes from Hongqi New Energy, a new electric brand launched by Hongqi last month that will sell the brand’s EVs to markets around the world, not just China. Among the markets the carmaker is targeting are Germany, Norway, Sweden, and France.

Car News China reports that the E202 is based on the company’s FMEs modular architecture that is said to support vehicles with wheelbases stretching from 2,700 mm (106 inches) to 3,450 mm (135.8 inches). This platform supports an 800-volt system that can apparently charge so quickly that the E202 can add 300 km (186 miles) of range in just 5 minutes.

The Hongqi E202 EV Concept Will Spawn A Production Model With Battery Swap Tech

The E202 takes the form of a sleek-looking crossover with a host of forward-looking design elements. These include an illuminated Hongqi logo at the front end, two illuminated stripes running over the hood, LED taillights, and Cadillac-inspired teardrop LED daytime running lights. The EV also adopts a roof-mounted LiDAR, digital wing mirrors, and a rear-end dominated by LED taillights and another illuminated Hongqi badge. Two small vertical LED lights are also found on the center of the rear diffuser.

It is understood that the production variant of the electric E202 will adopt four-wheel drive while also offering semi-autonomous driving functionalities. It will also apparently be equipped with 22 kW wireless charging. Local media reports add that the E202 will feature CATL’s innovative Qilin batteries and that the EV will also support battery swap technology.
