Android in trouble
Dhruv Bhutani / Android Authority
It looks like Apple is eating Androidâs lunch, dinner, and breakfast. According to a new report, Gen Z Android adoption is decreasing at an alarming rate, and one of Appleâs products seems largely responsible for the phenomenon.
- According to Financial Times, Generation Z (aka Zoomers, aka people born after 1996) are increasingly preferring Appleâs iPhones over even the best Android phones, especially in the United States.
- The report says 34% of all iPhone owners in the US belong to Generation Z.
- This stat destroys Samsungâs share, which is just 10%.
- This significant growth amongst Zoomers is part of the reason Apple increased its overall US market share from 35% in 2019 to more than 50% in 2022.
- This growth comes even as the average price of an iPhone climbs to the $1,000 mark.
- On that note, here are some great iPhone deals you can check out.
- Back to the report, 83% of European iPhone users under the age of 25 also say they will keep using an iPhone.
- If Gen Z abandons Android, it will only be a matter of time before Android begins to die a slow death.
- It seems Appleâs iMessage is the biggest reason why Gen Z is using more iPhones.
- Zoomers do not like that iMessage doesnât play well with Android phones.
You can read more about the report here. Weâve also written a lot about this phenomenon, including how iMessage users exclude Android users from chats. Meanwhile, hereâs a handy summary of all the things iOS does better than Android.

What a Wedneday!

ChatGPT, the conversational AI bot, is now authoring complete books for people who are going ahead and selling them on Amazonâs Kindle Store.
- According to a Reuters report, there were over 200 e-books in Amazonâs Kindle store as of mid-February listing ChatGPT as an author or co-author.
- Some of these include titles like âHow to Write and Create Content Using ChatGPT,â âThe Power of Homework,â and poetry collection âEchoes of the Universe.â
- A man also wrote a childrenâs book within hours, thanks to ChatGPT. Itâs titled âThe Wise Little Squirrel: A Tale of Saving and Investing,â and sells for anywhere between $2.99 â $9.99.
- There is even a new sub-genre on Amazon: Books about using ChatGPT, written entirely by ChatGPT.
- But due to the nature of ChatGPT and many authorsâ failure to disclose they have used it, it is nearly impossible to get a full accounting of how many e-books may be written by AI.
- So the next time you buy that random Kindle e-book, you might just be reading the works of a highly-accomplished AI.
Hereâs hoping the world of literature is not taken over by AI.
Have a nice day,
