They say imitation is the best form of flattery. Nothing’s Carl Pei is finding that out firsthand on the MWC 2023 show floor, where Unihertz has announced a device called the Luna. If you put it next to the Nothing Phone 1, which Pei did and posed for the camera, you’ll see that it boldly copies Nothing’s Glyph interface.
That said, we’re yet to get more details on what the lights at the back do. On the Phone 1, the Glyph interface lights up when you get a call or notification. One can only imagine this is what Unihertz’s device also does. Otherwise, what’s the point of just adding LEDs to the back of the phone?
Besides its lit-up back panel, which deals a different lighting pattern compared to the Phone 1, the Unihertz Luna doesn’t have a lot in common with Nothing’s flagship. It features a MediaTek Helio G99 processor, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, a 5,000mAh battery, 18W charging, a triple camera setup headlined by a 108MP camera, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
We had a chance to see the phone at MWC 2023, but unfortunately, the company hasn’t shared any details about the phone’s release date. A Unihertz representative did tell us that Luna comes out in March and will cost “no more than $300.”
